“ECO – EDU BANAT”
Environmental education to the different groups of children and youth.
ABOUT PROJECT
The “ECO – EDU BANAT” project will combine significant experience gained through several projects implemented under the cross – border program between Romania and Serbia. In the second decade of the 21st century, the educating of our children to be good citizens in protecting the environment is one of the most important obligations that any of us should make. This is important for our children and our children’s children, and for generations yet to come. This could be our last chance to protect the environment and provide clean air, water and soil to future generations. Accordingly, we will organize a set of trainings for children of different ages on both sides of the border. Starting from pre-school children through elementary school to high school youth, we will involve them in interesting, stimulating and motivating trainings, composed not only of theoretical lectures, but also with interactive practical activities.
The basis of our project is environmental education for different groups of children and youth. Education is a process that helps develop the skills and attitudes needed to understand the relationship between human beings, their cultures, and the biophysical world. All environmental education programs will therefore include the acquisition of knowledge and understanding and the development of skills. However, they should also stimulate curiosity, foster awareness and lead to informed concerns that will eventually be expressed in terms of positive action.
Environmental education benefits the wider population:
● Encouraging healthier schools: Empowers students to create greener and healthier learning environments inside and outside school buildings.
● Conservation of our natural resources: A higher level of ecological knowledge is significantly correlated with a higher level of environmental and conservation behavior. The more people know, the more likely they are to recycle, be energy efficient, conserve water, air, etc.
The main objective of the project is theoretical education and practical work for pre-school, elementary and high school children. By developing a set of trainings, composed with theoretical and practical pieces tailored to their ages, they will learn how to protect the environment.
